strange clunk

There's a strange clunk coming from what sounds like the back left area of my trans am. I know that the shocks are shot, do you think getting new ones will stop the clunk? Any other suggestions?

Replacing the shocks certainly wont hurt. While you are under there, have a look at the control arm bushings, and the bushings on the panhard bar as well. If you have a lot of miles on your car, chances are good that the bushings could stand to be replaced.

Another thing to check would be the sway bar end links. (provided you have one......) They can contribute to noise as well.

have fun.

replace your trans mount it's broke. buy a poly one from ES for the same price as stock and never have to replace one again.

check your lower shock mount bolts... mine was doing the samething, and my drivers side mount bolt had come loose. look under the car and get someone to jounce the rear up and down, this should help you locate the noise.

Good to go. It sounds like something I can find in my Summit catalog...
