Cams??? LT-1 vs. ZZ3

Ok, I know this has probably been beat to death here, but I'd like to know everyones take on which cam is worth more power. At the end of the summer I will have some scratch to buy a cam and intake. I've decided on Edelbrock tbi intake, and was decided on an LT-1 cam but I've been reading some posts and it sounded like the ZZ3 cam is liked more but harder to find cheap (under a hundred dollars). I'm putting on the 3 inch flowmaster exhaust right now with headers in mind next after the cam intake swap.
P.S. I'm looking for 14's, with this combo listed above????
Thanks

i would think that the zz3 would freak the computer out a little bit more

Yeah the LT1 cam would be a great cam without computer mods. If you wanna run the ZZ cam, you will prolly have to get a new chip burnt.

Ok, I've heard some say that the ZZ3 is barely small enough to still work with the stock computer but works better with a custom chip. After I'm all done with everything though I plan on having a custom chip burned. But it would be a few years down the line.

I have just put the ZZ4 cam into my 305 TBI specs are 208/221 .474/.510 112, I think the same as the ZZ3 cam. I have not driven it yet, still waiting for a T56 crossmember from Steve Sphon. The idle does have a definate lope to it, but with about 6 of advance is manageable. I don't think it would be all that great on stock heads but if you are going to upgrade go ahead.

Ok, Last night I found out that the ZZ3 cam is cheaper new then the LT1 cam. Let me know how well yours does. By the end of the summer one cam or another must be installed with the Edelbrock TBI intake. I'm already running about 6 to 8 degrees of advance. Did your computer throw any codes, thats the big question in my mind.
Thanks.

I ran it for like 15 to 20 min to see if I had and leaks, reved it up to around 4000 a few times. Computer showed no codes. But I have not driven it yet. Hope to by this weekend.

Well drove the car today. I am having problems keeping the car running at idle when it is warm. It will die on me after 10 seconds or so at idle. But the car ran well, as long as I kept it above 1500. I have a feeling I am going to need a custom chip to correct this idle problem. If you have an auto, you will have a much harder time than I am having.

I'm running my timing at 8* and it will idle in gear, even with the air on. It's alot more lopey then I expected. I just got mine running saturday. Deffinently needs some chip tuning. Its going to be great when its all dialed in, but I would not recommend running this cam if you are limited to a stock chip.

I reset mine to 8* and am not having too much trouble with it. Right now I think I have an ignition problem, when I am driving the car it will cut out real quick, the tack will go to zero, then half a second later it will return to normal. But other than that the car will run fairly well, still will need a custom chip though.
