Forced induction

How well would a TBI system from a thirdgen work on a forced induction 350? I am asking this in terms of ease of installation and performance.

You might want to do a search on this you might find some answers to it, but from what I remember from some posts about this a while back TBI is generally not very good with forced induction because of the wet intake system? it doesn't respond well to supercharging. Granted you will definitely see gains from supercharging a TBI engine, but I believe it was concluded that the gains are not worth it for the money spent on the setup.

I heard that wet intake systems are good for forced induction because they further cool off the combustion chamber due to the evaporation of the fuel. I was more directing this question towards whether or not the TBI could handle that kind of fuel/air flow demand and high RPM.

there are people who do it. there are a couple of people who run a centerfugal type, and an FMU to control the FP. there is also at least 1 person i can think of that runs a roots style blower, and has a 4bbl TBI system (Holley 950) and he made in excess of 500HP.

I hear TPI runs out of breath at high rpm. Which system is better for forced induction? TPI or TBI?

well, the are sort of two whole diffrent beasts. they function so much diffrently.

and tpi runnign out of breath on high RPMs is somewhat over come with forced induciton, because you are shoving air down its throught, and so it will basicly over come the high RPM "wall" of TPI (to a point.)

Holley Stealth Ram solves that problem. it is a tunnel ram intake base, with Holley's plenum attached to the top, instead of the four barrel mounting pads.

Stock-style TBI doesn't provide enough fuel at high horsepower if I remember correctly. (not enough injector there)
If you are going to spend the money on Holley's 4 barrel TBI for a TPI car, I'd do the HSR setup instead, for the money.

if you have a TBI car now, contact HOWELL-EFI.COM and see what they can do for you, as they do most of Holley's TBI Mods.
810.765.5100, ask for troy brown. He has always been helpful on my phone calls. He is also there chip burning guru.

TBI is usually only 670 cfm. TPI can be up to 1300 cfm depending on your throttle body......

Hope I helped!

Quite honestly, if you're looking to spend that much money, I'd ditch the whole TBI idea and go with a carbed or TP! 350 engine instead. You'll have a lot more options, and you'll probably end up making more power.
