how hard will it be to swap?

hey i know that our tbi flow very lil like less then 500 cfms so i was wondering how hard it will be to swap a carb in besides swap a manifold?and what hp gain will i see from a edelbrock performer and a 600 cfm carb?like 30 hp right?what will i do with the oem wires that run to the tbi?hide or burn a custom chip so the computer realises a tbi isnt there?

There is a tech article on this. I would start there. It pretty muched tells you what you need to do. I cannot remeber all of the details off hand.

I'd say do some other things before you get the Holley 670. You don't really need it just yet, I don't think. I'd say once you swap in a cam and intake then do the Holley 670.

Better get ready for some computer tuning too then if you want it to run right. That could be a good setup with the proper tune.

Id recommend getting the prom burning equipment and doing it yourself. If your smart enough to post on this message board, then your smart enough to burn proms. The quality of the bin on the proms, though, is entirely up to your tuning abilities. Its certanly possible to use a computer to do jsut the timing but again, if you dont have the ability to adjust the computers timing curve then youll be held back by the stock timing. If that be the case, then you shoudl probably get a non-cc HEI dist. Depending on the present tuning of the car you could have big gains with a carb. If the stock tuning is way off, then a properly tuned carb will make a big difference. If the tuning is relativly close to what the car needs, then you probably wont notice too much gain over, say, a holley or BB tbi unit.
