PS. lemme remind you guys its a convertible LO3 305...I GOT virtually no tire spin it was 2 awesome launches with great RT's...My mods are open element, shift kit, and flowmaster muffler 80's series and the car is in great tune.(o yea i got 2:73's too)....ARE THESE TIMES RIGHT??? HELP PLEASE

Even with the added weight of a convertable you should be pulling better times than that. You should be able to at least pull off a 16 flat in stock trim. Have you done the little things like bumping the timing up a bit along with the ultimate TBI mods?

nope

shifty timing is set at 0 degrees same as stock...only thing i really did was add a open element, remove the cat, add a flowmaster muffler and thats about it...im running BFGoodrich radial TA's...i dunno y the car is so slow espically with a new tune up and rebuilt tranny...mileage on the car is 142k and 80% of it is highway mileage...y so slow??

Try shifting higher. I gained .5 and almost 4 mph shifting at 5000 instead of letting the car shift at 4400. Also, your 60 foots are horrible. 2.4/2.5 is no where near awesome. I still think a 16 flat is a bit optimistic, but you should atleast be able to cut that down to a mid 16. Another trick is to leave your ac on in the staging lanes which turns your fan on and helps cool the engine. Ofcourse you need to turn it off when you are about to go, lol. Good luck

my

60foots have nothing to do with traction cuz i launched it perfect no tire spin at all...none what so ever...as well as leaving my AC on..i have a manual fan switch on the car so it was cool all the time. ..1st time i shifted at about 4700 rpms....with the 2:73's im virtually done with the 1/4 in 2nd gear (end of 2nd)...i might have to try and shift at 5k next time..

You're short shifting it at 4700. Bring it to 5000 definitely I think. Advance the timinig a few degrees at the distributor. And did I read that right that you had the A/C on the whole time?? A/C will rob lots of power from you, if you want to keep the engine cooler run the heater not the a/c. Also, you didn't get any tire spin but you may have bogged it off the line. Brake torque it up to higher rpm and launch at the point where its about to spin the tires but doesn't, practice.

Convertibles can still run fast. I have a catback, open element, and 3.42's and I'm hoping to be running at least very low 15's maybe high 14's, we'll see. Keep working at it though, these verts are great looking cars too!

when I had my car new, I ran a horrible 17.5!!

after that I made a tune up (accel wires, all filters, oil change, new spark plugs...and an open element)
and guess what:

16.1!!!

never get that time again, since then I run consist 16.2..with a manual.

I can't await to do my lt1 cam swap with full exhaust...all parts are bought. now I have to ship them from my aunt in the us to germany $$$ urgh
greetings

hey

guys got a check engine light before i ran the car...code 32 EGR i believe would this code make horrible track times? Car feels kinda weird at idle like stumbling, hesitating....Kinda get me a lil mad after i did a full tune up to the car. Where is the EGR even located in the car...should i buy a new one or just clean this one out? Any tips or tricks? Could this problem really effect my track times this greatly?

Chances are it is shot and needs to be replaced. If it had less mileage on it I would suggest cleaning it out. If your EGR is haning open than you could have found your problem.
