Hypertech Streetrunner chip

When I bought my car, the pervious owner installed the hypertech streetrunner chip. Does this chip disable the top speed limiter? Does any one know anything about this chip and if it is good or not compared to the stock chip.
Thanks,
Cory Mohr

I can tell you that it's not giving you 250 HP

I can also tell you that its better than stock, but not by much. If they charged people the exact price of what they were worth, they would probably only be about $5.

try 5 hp-20 max hp.

You could gain the same by buying a lower temp thermostat and fan switch and setting the base timing up...

All stock aftermarket chips on stock cars do is push the safety limits that the engineers have designed for a reason. Amoung worse emissions.

My car has many other upgrades on it. I just posted that it had 250hp b/c I was wondering if the hypertech chip is the right one for a 305 tbi pushing that kind of power. I many upgrades and totally rebuilt engine, tranny, rear end, suspension. Pretty much everything you can think of was covered. I am thinking about geting installing nos on it to punch it up around 320hp.

If you've done that kind of work to the engine and whatnot, then you should really look into a custom tuned chip.

Before I call

What are the specs on the engine? What heads? What cam? What intake? What piston? What intake? What exhaust? ETC.

If your engine really was making 250 FWHP, it would not even run on the stock chip!

so the motor makes MAYBE 200 hp now? up from 170, and you didn't list head work on there so i'm guessing not even that much, or headers even.

I forgot to mention that I do have headers and the heads were fully rebuilt and polished but not ported.
