Problems with RS

Ok I hope this is a good place to post this problem:

For a while now my Mom has been having problems with her '92 RS (305TBI). It would fail to start at times but most of the time it was ok. Then one day it just would not start no how. Had to get it towed home.

The SES light came on do i hooked up a "code reader" and got a code 54. So I replaced the fuel pump & filter, no luck.Replaced the fuel pump relay, same thing, then replaced the fuel pressure regulator still no luck, as a last resort replaced the oil pressure switch and the darn thing still will NOT run!

I've done everything I can think of and am at my wits end. HELP!!!!

Anyone had this problem or have another iIdea of what I can replace?

TIA
-don

The Fuel pump worked once installed. But doesn't make a sound when trying to start, turned out that the original fuel pump wasn't shot either. I think her aftermarket immobilizer (Mytek) is causing a problem but the intallers down right deny it

It could be your security system acting up. My car will not start sometimes. Is her car cranking over or is it just nothing when you turn the key?

Just a suggestion, maybe it has nothing to do with the code, could it be your starter? or a loose connection to it? check your wires to see if you have good connections everywhere...

just my $0.02

It Cranks fine, like it wsnts to start but when the TBI unit is checked there is no gas coming out. I'm almost positive that it is the Security System so I'm going to remove it today.

clogged injectors maybe? I had one that was stuck when I put in the 350 and the other one wouldn't fire because of it. I never got a trouble code from it though...

Well, I got it all figured out! Turned out that the relay that I changed was for the immobilizer and not for the fuel pump! I changed the PROPER relay and now the car fires up everytime. Incidentally, I learned that TBI (maybe TPI/MPI) have a "feature" that allows the fuel pump to work if the oil pressure reaches about 4psi thats why the haynes manual says to check your oil pressure switch if the fuel pump doesnt work.

Thanks for everyones help
