Snf, you could buy a junk one for nothing and try to bore it and see what happens. Shouldn't be tohard to find in a junk yard.

i have 3 dismantled little ones in my office right now. and im going to take my 454 off, and take it with two others (one little one will have to go on my car for a while) and have em matched. i know it will work. well i dont know, cuz people say you cant. but nobody has said why you cant. so i doubt them all.

What is the purpose of boring the throttle body out when its just going to be restricted again by the 1 11/16" bores in the intake manifold? Are u going to bore them out to 2" to I hope?

This is what JoB said on my post about the 454.

What bearings? I'm going to guess that you mean there is a brass fitting or something among that line to reduce TB shaft wear and tear. If that's the case then why not just get a 454tbi rebuild kit, it should have the new part needed to space it out to 2" right? Or maybe remove the bearing and then grind it down, 2.5...errr 1.25mm can not be that big a loss on a crummy bearing.

there are no brass fittings there. i think the guy is confused from reading stuff on tpi throttle bodies. i have three completely dismantled tbis sitting on my desk right now. there are NO bearings or BRASS fittings in there!

I don't even know how he'd think a TPI TB would have anything like that either, I know those have been bored out to 52mm.

then he must just be going from what somebody who didnt know told him. I talked to a machinist today. hes said if you went to 2" on the same centers then you would come out the back of the tb. unless you added material which he said you could do. he asked if anybody else does this. i said turbo city does them. he said how much. i said i think 200. he said they probably add material for that price then. SO, anybody who has had a turbo city 2" tbi, please email me and or reply to this thread. I am taking the 2" rochester off my car soon so that i can have them side by side and compare castings. also if anybody happens to have a little and big tb sitting around, please take some digitals and send em to me. thanks. i dont know if im right or wrong, but i intend to find out.

also, as if anybody still remembers that i was redesigning the tbi. ive found that to have a mold built and set up for thermaly injection moulding heat resistant plastic would cost about 20,000. so, i dont think thats going to happen. ive found phenolic is pretty expensive, the machinist that i talked to made a 2bbl spacer for a certain racing bracket for a guys car. gained 800rpm and 10hp he said. its about 1/4 inch aluminium sandwiched between 1/4 inch phenolic. great idea if you ask me, cuts heat and makes a spacer. 95 bucks for a spacer though.

anyway, im very hot on this idea still incase any body cares or would like to have a new kid on the block building their tbis. instead of Holley, i see all these people saying they are gona go get a holley tbi and think, damn, will anybody want mine if i ever get it built or will you all have holleys. o well. lata
