Holes in TBI intake manifold

I just got my hands on a used Edelbrock TBI intake manifold and there is a 1/4" x 1/2" hole punched into the side of each throttle bore. Does anyone know if this is the stock condition or why someone would want to modify it as such? Should I leave it be or get the small holes welded shut?

Could those holes be from a NOS setup of some sort?

Aluminum termites huh....must be a Canadian thing.

The holes don't seem to serve any purpose. I guess I'll just take it down to a machine shop to get it shut. At least I know for sure that I can't bore out the holes to 2"...not because of the throttle body screws, but because the metal around the throttle bores is too thin.

OK, I talked with a guy who works at a machine shop and he said that he had seen holes like that before but did not know why they were put there. If someone would be so kind to explain to me how to post pictures I can show everyone what I am talking about. I would really like to get some input on this.

To post a picture you need to have the picture online somewhere. Get an account with geocities or something like that. Then upload the picture to there servers the same way you would upload the picture for a website. Then use the UBB code {img}http://.....{/img} replace { with [ and } with ], it's that easy.
