How far can you rev in a tbi camaro? specifically if have any info on a 92 RS TBI camaro. how easily is it to get 300 rwhp on a tbi? would chaning to mpfi increase the hp over a larger rev range?

Re: how far can you rev in tbi? max hp?
You could probably safely rev it to around 5500 RPM. If you want 300 RWHP, everything but the short block will have to go. Youll need new heads, cam, exhaust, intake, gears, higher stall TC and possibly a shift kit/trans rebuild, and an upgraded ECM so you can tune. Might even be easier to buy a crate motor. Basically when your looking to make that kind of power with an L03, LG4, or similar, your car is little more then a rolling chassis as the entire driveline has to be replaced or modified.

Re: how far can you rev in tbi? max hp?
yea the l03 cars are a never ending headache of parts replacement,, i could never buy parts for mine because there is just nothing in those cars that would support anything else, i was looking at thousands before any meaningfull gains would have been made.
for example, a carb intake is easy enough to swap in, but the heads/cam make it so a bigger intake would only drop the low end tq like a rock, with no hp to show for it cause of the peanut cam, and swirl port heads, but even if i had bought the head/cam/intake, which i could not afford, the fuel pump wouldn't have supported it, nor the factory computer or injectors or tb, and the exhaust would have so severly limited almost any combo that it would have been pointless. the better question in regard to l03's, is "what's right?".
a cam, headers and full exhaust, make sure it runs right, then start building your replacement 350 if you want to keep it cheap.

Nobody ever claimed the L03 was a performance engine but I'll tell you this. I get in my car every day, turn the ignition, she starts. It's as reliable as a swiss watch. Us TGO members need the high HP motors at the quarter mile and need us L03 drivers still on the road to help maintain the Third Gen presence.
I'm pretty sure my L03 with 183K miles on it will be around a lot longer than most other engines.
Flame away.

reliability, i agree, no flame here. Those motors are high mileage juggernauts.
they even give a honda a run for it's money on mileage.

Re: how far can you rev in tbi? max hp?
i've had my STOCK lo3 over 6 a few times but after around 5 it bottoms out with out actually bottoming out. the rev is there but the pwer has peakd and tourque is gone around 35 or 4 i'd say. coming soon is my lt1 cam swap awsomely ported heads froma guy o tgo, edel perform intake holly 650 dbl pump carb accel dist. and coil. i will let you know how it goes. all together i've got about 1000 in parts and this should give me a pretty good hp range..i hope. and the lo3 is amazing. the main reason why it hit over 6 is cuz i was hoping prayin something would go wrong to coax me into a 350 build but i could NOT get anything to majorly go wrong. just recently a small upper tick has occurred which has coaxed me into the ported heads it gets better and better. dont forget for all the flamers out there complaining about spending alot of money on these blocks cuz everybody knows hp costs money no matter what block you have.

MPFI will definitely get you better power than anything TBI can do.

its the the injection stlye that gives the tpi the lonw end grunt, its the intake manifold. a long runner setup will yield lots of low end torque

NO IT WILL NOT! It yeilds tons of MID-RANGE torque(3,200-3,600ish, which is where the runners are tuned for). The TBI on a dual plane manifold will yeild more low-end torque anyday of the week.

Re: how far can you rev in tbi? max hp?
wait what? this is news to me! why are they so friggen hard to get outta the hole then?
Hey i have an idea to run by you as well fast, an l69 headed tbi car, just cause i think i have a set of them on my 85 t/a and the camaro could use the punch. with a dual plane manifold and a mild cam(205/210 maybe?) on a 305, good for 250 hp and maybe 300 tq you think?
and that rev range you specified is for the resonance pulse, in general the longer tubes are aimed at low end performance am i right?

Re: how far can you rev in tbi? max hp?
I've done the same, I've also gone over 6000 with the shifter in first just to make lots of noise (since 305tbi's don't exactly make awe-inspiring power lol). never burned a drop of oil and ran strong until some a-hole in a truck took out my passenger side with his rear bumper.
