ok i tried searching but could not find a straight answer most was just throwing parts at it but i dont want to do that.. the car idles in park just find but as soon as you put it in drive or reverse it stalls unless you give it some gas..the car also drives on the road with no problems but as soon as you come to stop light it dies unless i throw it in to neutral (auto trans) when dies it also turns on SES light too. I checked for vaccum leaks and didnt find any retorqued the throttle body and that didnt help..i was thinking the IAC vavle so i unplugged it for a few seconds and the idle shot up so thats telling me that its working right? im just clueless on this one..

 

what codes did you get?

 

i havnt scanned it due not having one..but i thought i read some where you can get codes sticking a paperclip in the port? maybe im just dreaming ha

 

thats correct, turn your ignition on, put the ends of the paper clip in ports a and b and the SES light should start to flash, it should flash code 12 three times then spit the codes out, you may want to write them down, one long flash is a 10, a short flash is a 1.

 

IAC. Won't throw codes. Is your ENGINE light on?

Check out the IAC its job is to keep the car from stalling when turning on AC or putting it in gear.

So that light isnt on when the car is on? Then it's not registering a code. THe light will come on when you first turn the key on and then go out. and it will be on when the car dies with the key on. It's been awhile since I paid attention to mine but that's how I remember it being

 

this isnt correct, with your ignition on, your SES light will remain on no matter what it never goes out, it only goes out if you start the car, with the ignition ON check your codes.....

 

ok the ses light isnt on while driving but as soon as it dies then it comes on and it isnt the iacv i replaced it today and didnt help..im going to try to pull the codes tommrow..

how much fuel pressure are you getting? is the car idleing fine before you put it in gear or turn on the ac?, might be a vacum leak aswell....

 

yea the car idles fine in park or netural but as soon as its put in gear it wants to kill unless you give it gas..

 

Ok so I was half right. I said it comes on with the key but goes off after awhile that was incorrect my bad. But I did know he didn't have any codes.

 

ok got some time to mess around with it and i think i figured it out i pulled codes and got 21 so i unplugged the tps and now it runs and dosnt stall so new tps it looks like?

 

It could be simply a poor flow of fuel getting to the throttle!! For $12.00 or $13.00 you could just need to buy a new fuel filter! My firebird had the same trouble.
