I have a stock standard 88 Camaro Covertible with a 305 TBI enigine. The Intake mnifold is cracked near thermostat mount and needs replacing.
Is the Edelbrock 3704 Intake Manifold suitable as a direct replacement. The reason I ask is I am in Perth Austalia and need to order the replacement via mail order and do not what order it unless I know it will fit properly.
The vehicel has no engine mods except fan sensor and and thermostat runinng at 160 degrees a far as I can tell.
I am planning on a full engine rebuild later this year but for know just want to get it going.

The manifold is a hair bigger than stock. Thier was nothing special that Ineeded to install it. If you want it get it!

Yes basically a direct replacement, make sure you enlarge the 2 bore to at least 46 mm, like the stock one.
The 3704 comes with 42 mm bores, probably to run correctly with the stock tune.

Id choose the Holley 300-66. its a better intake and costs less money; no boring necessary unlike the edelbrock as it already comes with 2" bores. only downside is that its a bit taller than stock.

The holley will require some modifications, as the bores are not centered like stock.
I doubt the difference in performnce of the 3704 and the 300-66, is noticeable on a mild under 300hp engine.

thomas, you mean centered front to back, right? that also means that the throttle linkage has to be modified slightly since its both taller and sits more forward (from what i can see on summit)... youre right, the performance difference wont be felt much on a stock 305 however the price difference definitely will.

64$ difference.
The 300-66 also needs another EGR valve than stock, all the details that need to be adapted will not all be overcome for free, not worth the savings, for me.
On a stock LO3 it's not that there will be little power difference between the 2, there will be absolutely no difference.
And on a mild built engine with the 500rpm difference they advertise, good look.

The 3704 is a 100% bolt on. It's not the nest intake, but better than stock and easy to install. Is sits 1/2" higher than stock but will not require any modifications to your linkage. It can be bored to 2" but is not needed since it comes with the stock TBI bore size (1-11/16).

Both edelbrock and holley manifolds are nice... One thing to keep in mind the edelbrock is 50 state legal... the holley is not.
