Im restoring an 89 RS with a 305 TBI....have had high idle issues,searched for vacuum leaks,replaced base gasket,didn't help. Was out yesterday,started the car,idle was suddenly decent,backed out of spot,put into drive and engine stalled. Tried to restart,cranks fine,getting fuel,but won't start. I know this could be multiple issues,would appreciate a more knowledgeable opinion on where to start....thx

 

Are you getting a check engine light? If so, what codes does it show?

 

No engine light at start up,but after driving about 10 minutes,yes. Other than the high idle,was running fine until yesterday's episode??

 

Tried to get codes by jumping the port,not getting any response,must be a larger problem....

 

How long has the light been coming on after driving?

Is that a question or a statement?

Are you connecting the correct two terminals?

 

Connected a wire from slot A to B,turned the key to ON position,start up lights came on as normal,but no flashing sequence and no codes. Engine light was coming on after about 10 minutes of driving,but wasn't causing any change in how she was running. Went back to basics last night and checked for spark and there wasn't any,so now I'm thinking ICM? Did have the high idle issue,which seemed to go away seconds before she died,so I'm not sure if that's related. Going to throw on a new ICM this morning and see where I'm at........thx

 

FYI....appreciate the help...I'm a gearhead from the 70/early 80's and I missed out on third gen tech having exwives and kids,so I'm sure you'll see me plenty!

 

Are ALL of the fuses good?

 

Fuses r good,tested the ICM,it was bad,replaced,still not starting...cranks,getting fuel,and still not getting any feedback checking codes?
