My Car is Ruined
My Car is Ruined
Last night at about 4 in the moring I runied my car. I don't know exactley what happened, but the engine blew. Is this car of any value at all. I just primered and fixed the body and tranny. Is it worth trying to sell? If I could sell it about how much could I get for it????

You can always part a car out, or just buy a new motor, perfect time for a crate motor or a rebuild, but there are always people looking for a car that just needs a motor.

It was an 86 Camaro with a 305 carb. I figured out what happened now. My carb got stuck open so it was like I was at full open throttle. Well I wasn't able to slow down so I put it in nutral to slow down. Well that just kicked the RPM's up to 6500-7000. Redline is at 6000. Anywho I tried to kill the engine and it woulnd't die so I finally got it stopped and I jump out and pulled a spark plug to get it to kill itself. Well the engine wasn't completly ruined. Just some bent pushrods and a ruined carb. Well I replaced the pushrods and thought I rebuilt the carb. It ran good for about 200 miles or so. Then yeterday in the middle of trafiic it happened again. This time I stopped by neutons law of gravity. I ran into the back of another car. He was going about 40 and I was going 60. We were both really lucky. His car had 5 very small scratches witch I just used touch up paint and fixe for him. On My car, the bumper is fine but the metal peice behind it where it holds on is bent back. Is there a way I can have this rebent to it's normal shape? What was it's normal Shape? I already have the bumber and everything taken off. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this one? As for the engine I Figure after all that wear and tear it is time for a new one. So I went to a junkyard and bought an 2001 LS1 in a wrecked Camaro SS. Putting the engine in shouldn't be hard but I have to find out a way to wire all the electriacl stuff like the PCM. Well If you have any idea's about the bumper just let me know.

If theres anything I've learned about thirdgens, you never have to sell them. Just fix them. They get pissed off if you're noty working on them all the time.
FaQB, the ls1 swap is very involved, you're going to have your work cut out for you. It's a totally different engine. You'll need to get the transmission with it. The mount points are different, the electronics are completely different. Do a little research so you know what you're getting into. Check out the motor swap board, I would be surprised if there was someone on thirdgen who had done this swap aready.
