dyno numbers sound right for this car?

had a Buick dyno day today and i invited my friend who owns an 86 305 iroc with the 700 4r tranny. well after a few passes we got he best of 192 hp and 260 ft pounds of torque. he was disgusted but i told him i thought that was about right. his engine is nearly stock with headers, adj fuel pressure reg, 24 pound injectors. not much else. he was a little amazed too when my little ol' six made 440 rwhp and 450 rw torque!

yes Mark its a tpi car and i know its got more in it, i told him those injectors are making rich with the stock prom he was using. we turned the fp down and each time it improved on the dyno. it then got too lean and bumped it back up to maintain his 192 rwhp numbers.

Stock it only has 190 HP at the crank, so I say he's doin pretty good with the mods he has.

yeah thats a storng running car there. Those injectors aer definately hurting him though. the ECM still thinks its firing 19lber's so its going to hurt performance.

shrp1, i have a 214-210 billet roller. i've notice from other dyno days the cars with stock cams make a ton of torque down low then fall off quickly before 5k. an aftermarket roller like mine has a nice torque curve that ramps up almost the same as the hp right up to redline, almost like an ls1.

I thought in 86 they made 215hp.

In any event, those are excellent #'s for that 305.

Isn't the reason for the lower HP is the cam GM put in the car? I know my cam is just way too mild and is hurting my performance badly.

192 RWHP is good on a mostly stock motor, Hes probably looking at 230 or so at the crank. He shouldnt be that disgusted.

440 is about right for a boosted 6

I think supras are 415 with work. I take it your pulling 14psi with some head work?

I would think that would be a little quicker. How much that thing weigh? 3800+?

jcb999, what are you talking about? what would be a little quicker? my buick compared to a supra? my car has aftermarket aluminum heads, billet roller cam, 72# injectors and much more. it made 440hp untuned and it has at least another 80-100 hp left. the time in my sig is for stock block street gn.

i was talking about the times 440rwhp should generate

11.9-12flat is a little on the slow side. Your average 02-z06 is about that speed and is probably about 360rwhp with 3100 lbs. Since you have about 20 percent more hp than a z06, that would be about right for something weighing about 20 percent more than a z06 (or about 3750lbs). I thought GNs were a little lighter than that... maybe not.

Not too familar with GNs but I would think it would be quicker than that.

jcb999 the times in my sig are for my stock block, full weight t-top gn. i'm sure it weighs around 3700. that car went 11.92@117 and it dynoed 390rwhp. look at the trap speed not the et. the car doesnt hook worth a dime on nitto drag radials. thats a 100%street car. my other gn is lightened up a bit, has serious motor and suspension mods. it will be a high 10 second car.

actually I was looking at both speed and time

But,, that time/speed would be about right for 390rwhp and 3700lbs. I was thinking it was the 440 combination,.
