Love to hate engine mounts/pan
My pan suddenly started leaking. It actually developed a rust hole practically overnight. Consequently I'm replacing the pan. While I have the engine lifted would it be easier at that time to replace the motor mounts or am I still looking at inventing new words?
Also, I know I'm supposed to remove the dis-cap but should I also remove the remote coil?
I'm debating on pulling the whole engine as opposed to just lifting it a few inches.
I've done it several times before on different cars so I'm not new to the ordeal.
Suggestions?
I've already done multiple searches on engine pulling so I'm pretty much ready for it. You guys and my helms oughta make this relatively simple.
Maybe I should replace the main seals and timing if I pull the engine....hmmmm.

Changing motor mounts is a huge PITA!!! I've done it twice and you have to invent new tools or be really creative with the ones you have. I've done it engine out and lifted slightly and it's about the same. Changing main seals is more trouble than it's worth unless you plan on rebuilding the whole engine. Especially if it's the one piece rear seal.

My helms states to not lift the engine by using the oil pan.
Have any of you guys done it with no problems?
Obviously I'd need to put a block of wood between the jack saddle and the pan.

i suppose it would be ok to lift it by the pan for the motor mount change. Keep a close eye on it though, your also lifting the trans. too. Hevily denting the pan can cause oil starvation
Hell, I dropped my old 305 right on the pan when i took it out of my car and the pan still looks fine. But do be careful.

Morley....thats not such a good Idea, the balancer might get damaged that way...some have had to remove some tranny bolts also to get the motor up high enough...your best bet is to borrow or rent a hoist....just my .02

I would've used my hoist but I've borrowed out the hydraulic shaft part of it.
Well I used the oil pan. Looks like I got away clean. Whew.
Thanks
