I have vortec heads and i am looking into roller rockers for them, but since the valvecovers are centerbolt, only some rockers will work and they are twice as much as standard rockers. My question is if i get the centerbolt to standard bolt conversion for the valvecovers, will any rockers fit? I can do this for 40 bucks because a friend of mine recently bought a conversion kit for 140 but dosnt want it anymore, so it would still be cheaper than running out and buying 300$ rockers.....
Any ideas suggestions or experience will be greatly appreciated

 

Why do you want to spend money on valve covers adapters
and then buy cheap roller rockers.

Why not just buy some good rockers that fit the centerbolt heads
like Comp cams pro magnum or magnum rockers

 

TRD sells hi profile valve covers for centerbolt for $100. Thats what I'm running. I'm running 1.5 comp roller rockers, but I also have screw in studs and guide plates so I have the "cheaper" non guided rockers. I'd say go with aftermarket centerbolts and cheaper roller rockers, because running adapters on centerbolt heads cancels out the whole reason centerbolt covers are better.........less leaking!

 

no sorry i explained it wrong, and i didnt add enough info... its not the fact that i want "cheaper" roller rockers, im intending on getting crane rockers because i havnt heard anything bad about them, and i need the 1.6 ratio, but the rockers for the non centerbolt are 190$ and the ones for centerbol (that i can find) are 300$ new. maybe im just looking in the wrong places, or i just skipped a page in my summit. And spending 40 bucks on adapters beats spending an extra 110 on rockers....

 

I'm running Crane Blazer aluminum roller rockers under stock center bolts covers with no problem. $161.99

 

buy some steel rockers from comp, 1318s, lighter and stronger than aluminum, and they don't fatigue.

I would go ahead and get the rockers made for centerbolt heads. When I was building my motor, i used the adapter and bought a set of Crane Energizer 1.6s which didn't fit! Because they are wider than the centerbolt rocker arms. I ended up running the comp magnums...

And as for that adapter, it worked for a week, then the o-ring seal broke and it left me stranded on the side of teh road with a waterfall of oil running over the side of my heads onto my headers which wasn't too pleasant.
