need help, problem getting worse
Here it is. When i take off and start to accelerate there is a gurgling or knocking noise coming from the enging bay. It usually makes the noise when im accelerating and only when in gear. If i put it in neutral and rev the engine it sounds good. But when im accelerating it makes a loud almost like a deep gurgling sound. What can this be? Any ideas?
Need a more descriptive sound
"Rocks rattling around in a coffee can" kind of sound?
- Sounds like detonation. Start with checking for over-advanced timing.
To be sure, run some premium or some octane boost and see if it goes away. Shouldn't be detonation if the knock sensor is functioning correctly. Unless the timing is WAY advanced. Is is hard to start?

sounds like its coming from the pass side of engine bay. it really sounds like a deep gurgling sound, you could probably say it sounds like rocks in a coffee can.
engine starts right up. it only makes the noise when the engine is warmed up.

ill try the high octane. someone else said it may be pinging. is this caused from timing being too advanced? it only does it when the engine heats up and is under load.

my car has made this sound for over a year now, im not to worried about it tho, i beleive it is a bent pushrod, brokedown lifter, or wore out cam lobe,

Well im getting worried because its getting worse. i tried octane boost and that didnt help. i dont think its the timing because it starts right up and runs fine. it just makes this noise and i need to figure out what is causing it before its too late. Anyone out there know what it is?
