ok so i got a set of Timken wheel bearings to replace since i am doing my front end. and the supposive new outer bearings (set 3) are larger in diameter and height then the old ones.. also the rollers are ALOT larger and the bearing won't fit into the exisiting rotor, and i odn't know how to get the old sleeve out of the rotor to replace with the one that came with the new bearings. what am i missing?!?!

 

looks like your missing the right set of bearings. The whole thing should go back together without much throuble. Oh, make sure to get new rotors as well since the bearing races are machined into the rotor. No sense in using old worn rotors with new bearings.

ya i realized that after doing ALOT of searching. stupid autozone computers not even asking if i had heavy duty brakes or not.. getting the right ones tomorrow. i think they are set34 right?

 

Set 34 sounds right.

To get the races out, you'll have to pound them out from behind. They are a press fit.

 

the races are machined to the rotor?Maybe they were replaced before I got the car.

Hey dimented...you stole my car man. LOL mine looked EXACTLY like that before the tint and wheels. Im even missing have that strip thats along the GFX.

 

All new rotors I've bought came w/ the races already pressed in. Check 'em at the counter.

Just tap slow; make sure you seat the race all the way. You can't drive it too far into the rotor; it'll stop where it's supposed to. Some guys use brass punches for this; some guys use a special bearing/race installer like this one: http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/aspfi...0.asp?T1=49048 I just use a hammer, and tap lightly. Be careful not to score the inside of the race, obviously

 

Evidently not, in the case of the ones I've bought at Auto Zone and Advance Auto. I occasionally road race and go thru rotors when things are good.

You have one on your back blackouts? Thats were mine is. That is kinda scary because that is my car. Same model, sports coupe, started with the same same drivetrain. Put some 20% tint all around and a set of TT IIs and we would be identical again.
