Do you have 2 cats or 1? I believe the 2 cat ones had the higher hp.

Was your car an Auto from the factory? If it was then you have the 205. If it was the manual, then Single cat=205 and Dual Cat=230.

Yup, dual cats = 230hp, and single cat = 205hp.

In the old days it was thought that besides the exhaust that the cam was smaller in the single cat car too. That has been proven untrue both by direct parts identification (i.e. people with single cat LB9s pulled cams and check #s) as well as indirectly (90-> single cat LB9s repond much better to mods than early peanut cam cars and are identical performance-wise with the dual cat cars once you upgrade exhaust)

HP is not everything. You've got more torque than that. Besides you can mod the crap out of 305's or 350's. And building a 350 is not that expensive if you do the work yourself.

You must have the Stock 5 sp manual and dual cats for the 230 hp LB9 option. All Autos came with a single cat and 205 HP from the factory for that year.
