What year was the rolelr cam introduced.

I am about to buy an '86 305 tpi transam.

I was wondering if it had a roller cam in it or not... I have a lt1 cam I was going to put in it but I am not sure if the lt1 cam will work in a non roller block?

any ideas?

You can run retro fit roller lifters in your block but they are kinda pricey. Close to $400 for a set.

So the stockers from a 87+ block wouldnt fit in the 86 motor? I am try to build a budget race car, and I already had the lt1 cam, I guess the cam woudnt work with non roller lifters.

The LT1 cam would work with the non roller lifters........for probably 30 seconds or so until the corners of the lifters started quaging the cam lobes. So if you don't want that, don't interchange them.
