Help: Girlfriend got a faster car than me, make me beat her!

I have a 92 firebird, 305 TBI with Flowmaster exhaust, and a K&N open element filter. My girlfriend just bought a 1999 v6 mustang (against my advice). Hers seemed to be pretty quick, even for a v6.. What can I do that will make my car faster than her? I was thinking 3.73 gears, slp headers, and a shot of NOS.. ???

Hate to rub it in even worse, but my brother beat a new slutstang in his bone stock 2BBL 350 4-door '71 Buick Skylark. The look on the new slutstang owner's face was priceless! hehehe.

Nitrous!?, to beat a V6 mustang....hah. headers an intake and 3.73s will leav her in the dust. The cam swap sounds great, but do u have the skill to pull it off.

Well 92,

If you absolutely MUST beat her, use a feather.....they inflict no damage.

Hey, what's wrong with letting her win?

You know, let her win a race, then tell her she gets to be on top......

Better yet....she gets to be in front while you're back there "bringin' up the rear" so to speak.

If she complains tell her she saddled this bronco....now it's time to ride 'em.

Mmmm, I'm bad. So bad. To de bone. I'm baaaaddd.

man oh man, why did i know i would see BOR posting on here after reading the topic? :P

imo you dont even need those 3.73's out back to beat her.. hook yourself up with a new cam, intake, and opt for a TBI spacer.. they do help.. i used one on my 4.3l monte project, and noticed a bit of a differance.. or you could get some copper pipe, cut off about 1/4 inch and glue it to the bottom of her gas pedel.. :P

you should have NO trouble beating it. my friend rented a 99 v6 convert (sure its a lil heavier) and it seemed we were exactly even....except i pulled minimally...and he said he was mashing the gas....so was i though....we even did a freeway test....exactly the same....well i took it as far as pickup acceleration but once we both got to 115 we were the same.....i took it off the line for stoplights.....my car was bone stock too.....oh except the headlight black outs...lol. i dont even think i had the k&n. lol

99Stang HP/WT = 16.3lbs/HP. (3100 lbs/190HP) 87-92TBI F-body HP/WT = 20/lbs/HP. You need 210HP to get a 16.1lbs/HP. Headers= 20HP, dual snorkel intake with air silencer removed = 15hp, timing bumped = 5HP. 170+20+15+5=210HP. The axle ratio is also 3.27 Standard. If she is auto then you could probably get away with only catback, dual snorkel. If she has a stick and can drive then Headers, catback, dual snorkel and timing. 3.42 Gears and posi would assure a good jump off the line.

Yeah well, a v8 sportsy car should easily be able to beat a damned V6 stang. If not, Go performace dude. Heads, Cams, Intake, go TPI, Rear End, Exhaust, etc. If you have the cash. Just be lucky she didn't buy a GT or you'd be serously Screwed. Just my 2Cents worth.

Well, At least were both driving automatics.. She bought the extended warranty service on the car so she won't be doing ANYTHING to it for a while.. I however, am swapping to 3.73 gears and headers within the next couple months..

Aside from that, I really wish i would have known ANYTHING about the 305 TBI's when I bought the car a year ago.. All I looked for was "v8" and I was happy. I definatly would have went with an IROC or a Formula, but I can't complain because it hasn't given me any problems yet. Well at least I didn't buy the v6 version... If my v8 is this slow, I'd hate to see a stock v6...

GOOD GOD IS THIS REALLY A PROBLEM?

That's why I bought an L-98, but it's all in how you run em...if you've got skill, you can rape that stupid rustang, don't tell me your g/f is a better driver than you. I had a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Quad 442 (4 banger, DOHC) that waxed the hell outta stangs, and my friend had an 85 305 IROC that beat the Olds, do the logic there.

God damn.

Now where the heck is Vader...

Crimson Meph,

Oh no 'ya don't.

As he comes slidin' out from in back of yon nearby bush like a half-bagged Flamenca dancer on Cinco de Mayo with a bottle of Mescalito Supremo in one hand and a fresh pack (minus one) of Trojans in the other.

Nope, no sandbaggin' here Consuliere - with the Wile Coyote disclaimers (see, I TOLD you NOT to use the "ACME" rocket mufflers).

Disclaimer ?

We donn need no stinking disclaimers - thees ees dee turdgen boord. Yuose shood all know about de mano in de cartono. Hees a leetle wile, jew know ?

Recreational beverages ?

Try recreational pharmacy......it's the caffeine + sugar you know.

Mix gently with a healthy blast of nicotine and LOOKOUT !!

And to think Vader, with his quiet and noble demeanor, was toughin' this one out.

Not me......I'm the master of the cheap shot.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em, swat I say.

Yeah.......

"Your honor, I move for summary dismissal on the grounds that my client was pounced upon like a $10 hooker in a sailors' port of call after the Nimitz took a 60-day tour. This is clearly a case of sandbagging, to the extent that the prosecution was caught licking its' lips like Tony Soprano after a manga session with that 21-year-old imported, escaped, and displaced hummer from the old Country."

As he says in his best Edward G. Robinson voice, "Wherehs ya' coffee NOOOWWW."

Harumph.....that oughta' last awhile.

HEEELLLLPPP Red Devil,

Now it's a friggin' paternity action !!!!

Branz......if you were born in 1973 or 1974, it might explain why the sidewinders' sister disappeared that year......

but that was in the 'burbs of Chicago......

and it WAS NOT me.......

Why do you think I was so enthused about the 'winders' ability to circumcise a tall indian at 50 yards ? As a high-school kid, I knew how to keep a girl from getting preggo.....just had to show them the other way to get funky. The 'winder dug it too.

She could do it all.........but I digress, this is a tech board, so........

Eh, yup, gas that 3rd gen ......no more moontang probs.

you should't have a problem If you use some mods like headers, cam, gears ect. I raced one before my engine swap and I was stock but he wasn't very skilled and lost. It took off fast but i cut the light on him and drove like a bat out of hell end of story.

If all else fails CHEAT!!

I hate to make this seem bad, but I hung with a '97 Pusstang V6 to 60 from a stop, and from a 65 mph start, we were even from 65 on. That was with my 89 V6 auto (in sig).

My former girlfriend's car was faster than my TTA. Her TTA went 11.70 back in 1991 whereas mine went 12.70's. It was fun setting up races. Nobody would race me because my car is tooo fast, but they would race her. We just kicked butt on everyone.

How 'bout sneakin' under her hood and putting something to keep the throttle from going all the way to WOT. Maybe a spacer under the gas pedal or somethin'

In this post lies the answer. The EPA had barely existed at the time that Buick was built! I've always been preaching the importance of building engines like they used to be built...SCREW the computers and smog heads! Am I the only one here old enough to remember RAT MOTORS?? High compression, big block Chevy 454s that would put out a roar loud enough to break the windows on your girlfriend's Mustang? Cast-iron Tyrannosaurus Rex's that could roast a pair of M/T slicks?

Drop the high-tech weapons and pick up a good ol' fashioned caveman's club and show your girfriend who wears the loin cloth!

My g/f drives a 94 mustang gt convertable with cold air intake, trick flow manifold, gt-40 heads, underdrive pulleys, headers, x pipe, 4.10 gears, lowered, sfc, stb, et streets on spare rims, and it has a drag launch kit. You thought you had it bad. I drive a 92 red camaro Lo3. And the only things I have done is lowered, stb, sfc, exhust, and gears. So next time you race your g/f and you lose by a hair. You think about my sitituation were you would be gettin beat by 6 car links. I love my car though it is more refined elegant and fun to drive around twisty roads. Besides you can't drive straight all the time.

CAMAROS DO IT SIDEWAYS!

Red 92 t-top camaro lowered, edelbrock stb, konis, high flow cat, flowmaster, tinted windows, stereo, and gears.

I raced my friend who has a 98 v6 mustang with my 95 NON TURBO eagle talon with 2 other people in my car and beat him pretty easily. bouncin the tach off the rev. limiter probably helped me some (7300rpm) He had underdrive pulleys and K&N intake and I had a K&N with hacked airbox. I would think you should be able to take it off the line for sure since they really lack low end torque IMO. top end seems to be there one of their stronger points, if that is posible on a mustang.

of course, if you are in anyway unsure, mod it until you are confident enough to beat that mustang in the ground. good luck

BTW: this post had me laughing the whole time!
