Is there any way to make my car slower etc before I take it to Maaco. I'm worried they're going to be doing burnouts in it etc. Should I just tell them I'm keeping track of the odometer and not to drive it more than into the bay?

Put the cheapest, crapiest, steel rims on it you can find. That way they wont get paint on your nice tires and rims. After showing up, pull the tail lights, if its camaro pull the grill, and headlights.

Do you have custom burning equipment? Anyway to change the prom chip to really lower the power w/o causing damage to the engine?

in that case....

still remove the headlights, and all 4 turn signal lenses... and swap your tires...

overspray gets everywhere that you dont want it.

Disconnect the throttle cable at the throttle body, car will idle. They can idle it into the booth, and romp on it all they want, with no WOT.

if its an automatic, exactly as said above, disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body. that way they can't go faster than like 3 mph.

How about... have them paint match the hood with the rest of the paint, go home, take off your hood and bring just the hood back...

Hahha, I like this one.

My suggestion is to go there with the car, and then pull the hood off while you're there. That's probably your best bet.

you can say that again. Had an eclipse that I took in to get serviced and one of the mechanics at the mitsu dealer left the door open while he was lowering the lift. Needless to say, after getting it back after getting a new free door the entire car had overspray all over it. Paint looked terrible after that.

Burn a PROM with a fuel cutoff at 10 MPH instead of the 118 or 254MPH parameter that came with your car's stock PROM. You can't generate much wheelspin at 10 MPH.

Just switch the 1 & 8 plugs on your distributor.

install a rev limiter, or find a shop you trust not to beat your car.

do yourself a favor bring it to a good body shop. youll get a good paint job, and you wont have to worry about them toying with your car. shops dont stay open with a rep of beating on the cars they work on.

I took my Z in to get an alignment, brought it home and discovered the front spoiler was missing alot of paint, and was cracked. Took it back and they played dumb. They apologized and said this sort of thing never happens. Then he gives me a card for a local body shop and says "here is the number to the guys that does all our body and paint work". Hmmm, I thought this never happened I said, he smiled. Anyway this thread has been making me think of ways of getting alignments without going to the body shop next. Maybe I could take the hole front suspention/k member down and get it aligned, then reinstall it in the car? Any other suggestions? Even when I'm getting tires I pull it on the lift, I stand there and watch everything. Anymore you just cant trust stupid people to not screw up your pride and joy.

Pull the rotor out of the distributor and take it home with you. This also makes for a rather cruel practical joke to play on your friends car. Most people wouldn't check that until they have spent a couple of hours tring to figure out what is wrong.
