stock hood

I can't afford an aftermarket hood so is there anything I can do to my hood to reduce heat and increase air-flow. I also want to look good. If not, then I guess it will have to wait until next year. Thanks

You can go in on the back side of the hood and remove the weather striping as we all know there is a lot of air that stays at the bottom of the windshield. So you might as well put it to a use. This will also be a good sorce of cold air. Hope I helped?

I ripped the linning out tonight. That should help some. I was wondering if anyone has put vents in the hood. Like where the cut outs are already inside the hood. I was thinking about putting on on each side in the rear of the hood. What do you think. I'm open to options. Thanks

um, if your talking about the insulation you better put it back in, unless you want the paint on your hood to fade.

The paint won't fade. The hood gets hotter sitting in the sun all day. That's a bunch of BS. My engine only gets to a max of 180 degree's . Have you ever took the hood temp of a black hood thats sat in the sun all day. The main purpose of the lining is to mufful the engine sound. Does anyone have any useful info. Thanks

I vented my L88 hood on my 89 rs and the temp. dropped 5 degrees. I now run a constant 185. and didnt need to remove the entire hood lining, just where the vent hole is. putting a vent in the proper place on your hood will drop the temp.

yea i got some useful info, your original question was "is there anything i can do to my hood to reduce heat and increase airflow?" first off itd be nice to know what type of car you have, because different f bodies have different hoods.. if you have a formula you can open the vent on the hood to let heat out .. if you have an iroc or trans am you can open the louvers BUT it will not draw air into the engine compartment, you need a 3 inch cowl to do that..
why are you doing this anyway if your engine only gets to a max of 180*??
