valve spring size

What are the dimensions of the largest valve springs you could use with stock, 083 L98 heads without having to machine the heads?

besides the spring diameter you need to watch going over .47 or so lift with pull out studs.

So you're saying that i wouldn't be able to use a cam with .487 lift and .500 capable springs?

You can, it's just that the factory rocker studs (pull out studs as we like to call them) aren't the most reliable thing when lift over around .480" is used.

Screw in studs are not really limited to max lift and what not like pressed in studs. Once installed, don't worry about them. You will be fine assuming you don't go runnning off and installing some .700" lift drag cam.
