Turn Signals not blinking

My turn signals do not blink when use them they just stay open until I close them is this normal behaviour of my car or something wrong with my turn signals? Both front and back lights don't blink.
Any Idea what can cause this?

Also when push rear window defroster button all electrical systems go crazy in the car and sometimes engine stops what could cause this?

Thanks in Advance

For the blinker, you might need to refill hte blinker fluid reservoir - j/k. The relay might be broken and need replacement. For the defroster issue, see if the wirign is still intact, as having bare wires touching themselves will do nasty things. Check your assosiated (sp) grounds for the defroster too.

He was joking lol. There should be a relay under your dash that is for the blinker, I think it's near the fusebox, if not attached to it. Sorry I don't have a pic to post, but i'm sure someone around here does. Or you can to go the auto shop, but a relay for it, and getb under the dash and play the matching game lol.

Or you can check here, sounds like he had a similar problem

Thanks for the answers I read the other post and I don't think I'll be able to fix it myself.

I'll take my car to a shop soon hopefully it will be fixed there.

There is a Flasher relay located in the botom of the instrument pannel. Just go to a Auto Parts store and ask for a Flasher relay
and check with them were it is located.

Possibly burned out bulbs or bad sockets.
Pull your hazards flasher on, and check to see if all the exterior bulbs flash - front ones beside the headlights, those in the front fenders, and those in the tailights.
Replace any that don't work, and check the turn signals again.

For the defroster problem, check and clean all your battery cables and ground connections.
