My motor project is done! Check 'er out!

I finally got the motor/trans. swap done in my 1991 RS.
It used to be a 3.1L with an auto. It's now converted to
a 350hp 350 Ramjet motor with a T-56 trans. All I can
say is WOW! VERY different ride! I may want to go more
hp later on, possible supercharger with a retuned ECM.
May make it about 500hp. Max amount for this SBC!

Next on the list is some minor body work and detailing!

Let me know what you think!

Looks like a nice clean install, now it's time to go to the track and get some times on that thing.

Yeah, I blocked out where license plate was, just to cover
up the numbers. I edited the pic with my software, so it's
not acutally on the car. lol!

Thanks for the compliment too!

nice air intake tempature sensor
Why didn't you put it in the intake where it should be?

I really do like the ramjet intake and vortec heads setup though let us know if you ever run it on the dyno. I want to use fastburn heads and a ramjet intake in the future.

Very nice! I would rethink the air intake and sensor myself, you would be better off putting the cold air intake stuff back on and relocating the temp sensor to the air box. The way it sits now, the best intake air your going to get is warmed engine bay heated air and that does make a difference. You might want to search on that and read for yourself what the negitive effects are, and there are lots of guys who did as you have and went back the other way as far as the air filter bolted to plentum. FYI

Looks nice, but I too would suggest putting a factory twin-filter cold air set-up on it, it would look a lot better that way.

Yes it does fit. BUT, not without cutting away some of the
crossmembers in the hood. But once that was done, it fits
like a glove! Can't even notice the cutouts in the hood due
to the hood liner covering it all! So, yes the intake does sit
tall and I also used brand new poly motor mounts. Just
to let you know. If you plan on buying this intake system
or the whole crate motor, prepare for cutting away the
crossmembers in the hood to clear the intake. Otherwise,
invest in a nice fiberglass 2" or higher cowl induction hood.
Personally, the 4" cowl looks best on Camaros.

Because it does not go in the intake manifold ( if that's what
you mean). It goes as close to the intake air fiilter as possible.
I don't have the dual intake induction system for the V8. I
had a V6 before, and that system is too restrictive for this
new motor.

If anyone has a nice dual TPI intake system for me that's
in like new condition, PM or e mail me!

Thanks for all the input. Already know that colder air is
better than what I have now. Three reasons why I don't
have a cold air system or the dual TPI intake system:
1.) Don't have all the parts yet.
2.) Don't have the time to build a new one yet.
3.) I just finished this project as of last week, and I haven't
been shopping around much for the intake system. I have
been working out the bugs in the car which is more important
than the intake at this time.

So, there's your reasons.

You actually want the air intake temperature sensor in the in intake manifold. You want it as close to the combustion chamber as possible. Since you can't put it in the heads you should put it in the intake manifold like all cars do. If you put it outside of the intake manifold you will not be reading an accurate temperature reading.

VERY sharp, guys!!!

I love the RamJet smallblock setup :hail:

I would love to have one myself someday. That should run EASY 13s in the quarter

WOW! Nice job! Like it very much!

Ok, few things:

1.) Where did you get the wire loom kit from?
2.) Where did you put your IAT sensor to since
you are also not running an intake system like me?
3.) What type of headers are you running?

Sellmanb,
That pic is a little deceiving, the wire has plenty of clearance.

Camaro_nut,
Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread here, I coudln't help but post just one pic tho It's just so...so...sexy...Isn't it?

Anyhow, to answer your questions, the wire loom kit is a Made For You vertical kit for the old (perimeter) style valve covers, from Summit Racing. I'll be ditching those though, since I put my old (new style) center bolts on. I got sick of having seal leaks with those stupid adapter plates. I'll probably go with the Made For You center bolt type though, I like those looms a lot.
I haven't wired up an IAT sensor yet. I pretty much built that whole harness from the LG4 computer harness (which was way insufficient), so I have yet to add some more wires for the IAT sensor, injectors, IAC and possibly something else I'm forgetting at the moment. I really don't know yet what I will do for the IAT sensor. There is a 3/8" NPT fitting in the rear of the manifold but I was planning on using that for the brake booster. I think what I will end up doing is putting the IAT sensor in the intake track that I will probably build for a cold air setup. The headers I have are Hedman 1 5/8" shorties (no AIR). I'll be taking them out and recoating them again since I didn't do that well a job the first time around and they are starting to rust.

The engine bay is still a mess, since none of the wiring is in looms yet, but I'm close to being finished with the wiring, and everything is bunched together now and wrapped and ready for looms. I'm going to get the Summit billet alternator adapter also since there is no mounting location on this manifold for the stock bracket. Strut tower brace mounts are since gone. I've also fabbed up a bracket for the cruise (if anyone is interested to see how that works, I've got pics for reference) since I've still got the auto and plan to travel with the car. I'm pretty happy with the work I've done, now I just gotta get the engine bay painted nice like yours!:hail:
