The transmission cable that comes up to the where the throttle is connected adjusts the pressure in the trans. if it is not set right it wont shift at the right time.

If you have an automatic transmission, search for transflexio's method of adjusting the TV cable. works perfect every time!

crazy, your car looks great you did a great job on the body work. If you look at your tranny, on the driver's side (I believe) there's a little throttle linkage looking thing. Examine it and play with it, you'll figure out fairly quickly how to adjust it.

Car does look good

You might want to check the governer for damage or recalibrate it to shift sooner. The TV cable can cause high shift points but if your diving normal and shifts are good its not normaly the TV cable. BTW they (TV cable) auto adjust when you floor the car and the cable is too tight unless the end is damaged.

First, check the level of the fluid in the tranny! Forgot to ask that... Once you have verified you have the proper fluid level, check out the thread from transflexio on how to adjust the TV or detent cable. I'm thinking your fluid level is high..or the cable is not adjusted correclty????

First, check the accuracy of your tach.

It's lying.

So did you do a search on how to adjust the TV cable yet? There's lots of info and pictures.

maybe you have a bad torque converter?? Do a search on that... I have never had a problem with mine, but i did recently change mine to a vigalinte3000. I wonder if it is bad? IF so, I have a stock one that is sitting in my garage. I think the stall is 2032 which is marked on the unit.

I always get a good kick out of that one but what’s this? No rant about how it’s an option not an instrument?

RB makes a good point like always! Factory tach's are not a real good indication of actual RPM. They do tend to be way off. I know that my tach is close until 4k or so then it starts to read low but its not uncommon for them to spike and read higher then normal.

I just cant see plugging one of those big honking 12k wet dream “tacometers” into the bird.

Tacometer-

Translation, 8in+ tachometer as seen in every Taco Bell employee’s import.
