the other day i went to start my car, and it was as if the battery was dead. it turned over for a second then just clicked. so, i got my other car and tried to jump it and the same thing happened. then i tried to charge it and the same thing happened again.
like i said, its like the battery just isnt strong enough to turn the starter so it just clicks way like it was dead. and either its a new battery. and, even when i jump it with my other car OR charge it, nothing happens any different. once i saw that, i ruled out the charging/battery system, because even with a known good battery,it didnt work. then i though it had to be the starter.
i took it out and brought the starter to NAPA because it has a lifetime warranty, so i figured they would just give me a new one and it would fix the problem. they tested it and it was "good" so they say, so they woudnt give me another one. so i put it back in.
i have checked everything, but i cant find the problem.
by the way..once in a while (like onece every 30 tries) the car just starts right up like there was no problem at all. cranks strong, turns right over, and fires.
any ideas? need any more info? just reply and i will tell you anything you need to know. thanks a lot.

yeah, but correct me if i am wrong...the alternator will only cause problems once the engine is running? could the alternator be causing the problem, since it is theoretically not involved with starting the car?

You might not have enough cca to turn the engine over because the alternator hasnt been charging recently

Go through and reclean the battery terminals on the battery, starter and block/alt bracket, wherever it goes to,,sure sounds like a bad ground.
ANy corrosion in the battery cables, just past the connectors? Look for some white stuff in there, if you see any, get new cables.
