Nothing will realy maximize performance with those heads they are low compression. The 76cc heads are fine for a non performance engine "dads old beater" But not for a performance aplication. I would go for 68cc and lower.
SSC

I just had one of those after thoughs
These would be great heads for a supercharged setup but thats probably not in your plan.

SSC's pretty much dead on. Even if you zero deck your block, you're still only going to have 9:1 CR with -6cc flat tops. With a zero dec, -6cc flat tops, and milling the heads .02", that would bring you up to around 9.4 or 9.5:1. I don't think you want to mill the heads that much either!

don't forget to make sure you have enough turn signal fluid. When yo raise compression you use more of it.

What kind of a stupid answer is that? Keep those kind of replies to the kiddie boards and not here.

The 76cc heads are good depending on the castings. The larger combustion chambers unshroud the valves and it's easier to put bigger valves in them. Since you're going to buy some JE pistons, get some that will bump up the compression with 76cc heads.

what about with nitrous would the bigger chambers aid in the performance of the juice?

I had a set of pocket ported #882 76cc heads on the last engine I had in my 82 Z28, and was able to get it down to 12.52 @ 108 I had a set of 1.94"int, 1.50" exh Manley Pro-Flo valves, and a set of K-motion 1.25 springs. I used TRW .125" domes, and the compression worked out to be 9.92: 1 after cc'ing the chambers to a true 76cc. I cut them .010" to true them up. The engine was a .060" over 2 bolt 350, the above mentioned heads and pistons, a Ultradyne solid cam, Performer RPM intake, BG 650 Sport Claw carb, and a set of Hedman 1 5/8 shortys w/ Y pipe. It had a TH350 w/ 4000 ACC stall, and 4.10 Richmonds. When I originally built the engine I drove the car all the time, and I the Edelbrock RPM camshaft in it before I put in the Ultradyne solid. It also had a B&M 2400 Holeshot convertor and 3.42 gears. I was able to get 13.20's at 102 out of that set-up, so to say 76cc heads won't run well is inaccurate.

It would still be better to run flat-tops and 64cc chambers even though the cr works out the same. 76cc chambers are great for 383 and 400's though.
