Stick your finger in the end of the sparkplug wire...

Seriously though, if you have a timing light, hook it up to the plug wire you think might not be firing.

Pull the wire, stick a spare plug in it and ground it on the block. Then look at the electrodes.

A trick I have had to use a few times was a screwdriver. Pull the wire off the plug and put the tip of the screwdriver into the boot. Then hold the screwdriver close to something metal on the car and have someone turn the engine over - look close for spark. Obviously if it is darker it will be easier to see the spark - And don't forget to use an insulated screw driver!!! Ouch! If you do have spare plugs, use those instead - probably a little safer and easier.

Does your distributor have an external coil ? If so, (and you really don't have spark), I'll bet it's the spark module bolted to the top of the distributor under the distributor cap.
