140 mph but that's at the end of the 1/4 mile when the engine is topped right out. I'm not geared to go much higher.

If you have some highway gears, 2.50 etc, and an OD, as long as you have a long enough stretch of road, you can hit very high speeds. It's just going to take you a while to get there.

Stock ECM speed limiter is set to 115 mph. Even if you raise this the stock 170hp won't get you much more than that.

Yup, the speed limiter hit me when i was around 2k RPM, so there is quite a ways you can go.

I could touch the stock 108 MPH limiter easily on the AWKS 305 caprice calibration that was running my essentially stock 180 HP LE9 (601 heads, 929 cam, headers, duals, converted to TBI w/ 350 injectors) 305 in my Fullsize Van. That was about 3,600-3,700 rpm in 3rd gear with 3.08 gears and 29" tall tires.

EDIT- With both my 305 and my 350, it has done over 120 MPH. The 301 RWHP 305 was capable of pushing it over 130 MPH in 3rd gear with 3.73s and 29" tall tires. The tach was up around 5,500-5,600 and the engine was screaming pretty good.

I have a 90+ MPH run on video. After the 2-3 shift at 4,000 rpm and 70 mph, it took the peanut cammed L05 to about 100 mph to get back into its powerband. At about 115 wind drag starts overcoming the engines weak HP output and acceleration slows to a snails pace, but it will still hit about 120-125 MPH on flat road. With the Ported 081s and the ZZ4 cam, it went straight up to the 135 MPH fuel shut-off, quickly as well.

In the IROC (no limiter! WOO!) I hit 140 on the way to work. Long stretch of road out to the local airport. It could go faster, but I started burning some leaves and other debris under the hood, so I toned it down.

My 86 went up to almost 160mph based on rpm and gear.
My Formula has been topped out at 140 a few times, ran out of 5th gear.

The speed limiter will kill any thought of hi speed runs on e ways.

They made them put speed limiters on cars so they could not go faster then the cheap tires they stuck on the car new, are rated for. It wasn't very legal to let a car do 140+ with tires only rated for 85. Ya tend to get sued when folks figure it out.

most cars speed limiter mph setting can be changed however your a dope if your tires arent rated for it. Cheap walmart 85 mph rated tires wont fair well for long at 140 if you get into trouble.

Though it a bit over rated I run all weather Z rated tires.
Thats a 165+ MPH rating.

i pushed my 03 s-10 that runs 16.0's to 128.. thats after i hypertech'd the speed limiter to 128.. probably coulda went up to high 130's maybe even 140s.. and sadly i have not gone faster than 120 in the TA.. i dont see the need for it in that car.. i trap at 110 in the 1/4.. and i get horrible gas mileage.. at $3.50/gal for premium, i'm not ready to see my money go with the speed..

I think the fastest ive done is 95 (estimate). My car has an 85mph speedometer and I went a little over that so I may have been up to 95mph. Since I have no way of knowing the speed after that, I did not try to go faster. I need to swap to another speedometer.

What is the fastest I can go in my L69 TA with 3.73 gears and stock 15" rims (215/65R15 tires)?

Back when my car was stock I did 130MPH and it seemed pretty happy there. I did it 3 times in about 15 minutes. There was absolutly no one oh the interstate as I sped up, but everytime I got to 130-ish I would see a litght or something and didn't wanna take any chances. I bet it would have gone to the 140 MPH speedo mark. That was with the stock 305 TPI Z28, headers and a chip. Now the same car has a carbed 385, 500 HP, a 200 N20 shot, 4.11s and a T-56 with a tiny .50 6th gear. My speedo now goes to 160 MPH, but who knows if I will ever play with it that high....

I've had my 85 Iroc just about topped out. The speedo only says 85 but it was pegged way down and the tach was at about 5000rpm with the 3.42 gears. So I'm not sure maybe 120 to 130mph. It definatly had more pull but needs another gear or two or three like a T56 would be nice.

About 115 MPH in the Firebird (3.1L V6)

100 MPH in the Firebird Trans Am with the LT1 since I swapped it in. I got 15" tires that are about shot, crappy brakes, and need lowering springs and probably some other suspension stuff but I got SFCs! I don't feel like going stupid fast in it...yet.
