Anyone have a picture showing where this is located on a '91 RS? and a picture of the piece itself?

cant miss it, it is right behind the rear end of the intake at the center of the engine(middle of the car) close to the firewall, a single wire plugs onto it it is a round metal barrel/bell shaped unit there not much room around it

good luck

Are you sure? On a 91? On my 92 GTA it's the long silver thing-a-mabob screwed in just above the oil filter.
I thought the bell-shaped senders went out around 1987.

On the V6 engines the unit is just above the oil filter. but on a V8 it should be right where Randy said.

I called a friend of mine just now that has a 91 RS 305 TBI and he said it's under the car on the driver side, below the engine area and the exhaust manifold in front of the exhaust manifold in the block. hope that helps...

Both being V8's.....and tlgrooms info states he has a 305......
My 88 is on the rear china wall just how Randy stated.
However, my 92 is the long silver thing just above the oil filter.
His being a 91 305, one or the other location should be correct.

On my wife's all-stock 92 Rs with the 305 TBI motor it was screwed into the block just above the oil filter boss.

I just replaced my sender unit less than a month ago. (L03/305 TBI) any SBC should be about 2-3 inches above the oil filter on the left side of the eng. and about 3.5-4" long. Mine had, I think, a 3 wire connector on it, and it's a pain to remove unless you have the special socket made for GM Oil press Sending UNits. I think mine was $21.95 from Napa. Took about 10 mins to change once I had the right tool for the job. Since then, NO LEAKS - on a GM!! woo hoo. any way it's easy, doesn't take long and definately do it yourself. Just be gentle at first loosening it. It's only a 5/16ths hole and a 1 1/16th socket(I think), it can break off in there, but very unlikely.

Many thanks for the replies guys. Found mine today, just above the oil filter in the block and man was it a pain to get out. Went to the parts store and bought a sending unit, and the special socket to get it out. Got home and the socket wouldn't fit. Took me an hour or so but I finally got it out. The one I took out was larger than the one they sold me. Seems to be working fine tho and my gauge is back to normal. Hope it stops some of my oil leaks. Too soon to tell yet tho.
