Where did my power go???

My 86 IROC Z-28 w/305ci was in storage for nearly two years and I've pulled her out and got her running again. I put on a new Holley 600, new Revtech coil charger, 8.8mm wires, the hottest AC Delco plugs I could find, and I replaced the fuel filter. The motor seems to be running great until I put my foot in it, I remember this car having a lot more go in it. There is no hesitation or anything, it just dosen't have the ***** it had before it went into storage. The only other things done to the car is headers, exhaust, and an intake. There is absolutely no emissions components, not even the ECM is on it anymore, that was all removed years ago. The new stuff I put on was exact matches to the existing, I just replaced it all due to it sitting for so long. I've ran about 10 tanks of premium through it and used all the cleaners available (seafoam, 104, outlaw). Basically the car feels like it did stock. I know it's only a 305, but c'mon it is still a Camaro! Does anyone know what else I could do, on a budget, to get this performing like it used to.

Thanks, J

Re: Where did my power go???

I would try putting the quadrajet back on and see if it's any better.

Re: Where did my power go???

The car hasn't had a quadrajet on it in over ten years. I had a Holley 600 on her before storage, it was just all gummed up and varnished from sitting. I tried to re-build it but the accelerator pump and the secondary wouldn't work for nothing. I still love Holley but they are tempormental...I had a little luck with it last night though. I put sea foam in the crank instead of pouring it in the carb, and I drained off some tranny fluid and filled it back up with Lucas oil. On the way to work this morning she seemed noticably better at higher rpm's. I'm starting to think the valves and the tranny just need some time and some miles to get back in shape.

Re: Where did my power go???

It is the original, only 94K original miles on it, why do you think the seafoam is a bad idea? It's already in there, I plan on changing the oil Saturday.

Re: Where did my power go???

it basically is a solvent while it will clean out sludge and what not it will also thin your oil and may cause seals to leak and normally once they start leaking they dont stop

Re: Where did my power go???

Did you change the Distributor when you remove the computer? I 86 the Dist. was computer control and without the computer you will not get any timing advance.

SpitotRs305 - Thanks for looking out, I changed the oil on Saturday, it was pretty sludgy. It was a little wet around the rear main, but I don't think it will be enough to worry about.
