T56? car cranks hard when the clutch pedal is depressed??????
Hey guys, I just installed a t-56 out of a 96 z28 into my 88 Iroc. I replaced the clutch master and slave cylinder with new pre bled gm units, I also installed a brand new spec stage 3+ clutch and pressure plate. The clutch is aligned perfectly and torqued to spec. The car will barely turn over when the clutch pedal is depressed. I tried pushing in the neutral safety switch and not pushing in the clutch pedal to start, the car cranks over perfectly normal. Do you guys thing my clutch fork is installed wrong on the throw out bearing and it might be binding up??? any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Did you use 3rd or 4th gen pedals? I had a simliar problem with mine when I had 3rd gen pedals in it. It would actually grind. With the 3rd gen pedals it would push in too far...Have you try not pushing the pedal all the way to the floor?

If you can push the pedal a few inches from the floor and it works, then you have a problem with the pedals. Thats what mine did. I have read several posts about 3rd gen pedals have the wrong geometery or something? I fixed my by installing 4th gen pedals....everything works perfect now.

Or, just don't mash the thing all the way to the floor when starting it.... adjust the switch up a little bit so you don't have to. If of course, not pushing it down quite all the way clears it up.

I suppose I could do that, I want everything correct though. I got a set of pedals out of a 97 trans am this after noon.

I managed to get the pedals from the same car the engine/transmission came from, no extra charge. The more I hear, the more I'm glad I did that.
