Which one is a cheaper upgrade?
Sup,
I was wondering which upgrade would be the cheapest in the $100-$200 range that would return the most power.
I found headers on ebay for ~$100.
Any idea how much a bolt-on carb would be? One that doesn't need much modification.
The engine I have is an electric carbed 350 chevy. The headers I have on are carried over from my original 305 (pretty crappy condition). The carb is throwing bad codes (I think because whenever it chokes and studders, the "fasten seatbelt" light turns on). It is the stock one from the original engine. It's been rebuilt quite a few times, but it still sucks.
Thanks for any input.

Unless you're making more than 500 HP, you won't get more power out of a carb swap.
$100 eBay headers sounds like an expense waiting to happen.

Not sure what you have already done to it, but it sounds to me like you need a full tune up… take it to a shop that does an inspection with there oil changes… have them take a look at it, and make sure all ur fluids, belts, battery, air filter, and brakes are working good… no point in putting on headers when ur engine isn’t runny at a 100%…
So spend 20 dollars of that 200 on an oil change and have a ASE master mechanic look at ur car!!!!!

And if you have any cash left over, either:
1) take your significant other to a steak dinner, or
2) save it towards future mods, or
3) put synthetic lube in the rear axle, or
4) pick up a good used aftermarket intake manifold.

the problem with having a master mechanic look at the car is because my dad will not agree to it. he trusts his mechanics, and thinks every other mechanics out to rip him off. i'm afraid if i go to one of these mechanics, my dad's going to complain about costly bills. i'm 17 btw.
thanks for your input guys
