Axle/Gears: OSD 10 bolt/ 3.42
missing a part on engine, what is it?
what goes in this opening?
not my actuall engine, just showing what im asking about

That's where a mechanical fuel pump goes, but you don't have to use a mechanical fuel pump, and I doubt you will be using one on your car because there should be a fuel pump in your gas tank. Why the block off plate is missing is a mystery. Did you just get the car or something? If you use an in-tank pump or inline pump, you block off the mechanical fuel pump location with one of these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-401030/

That is where the mechanical fuel pump is attached. Refer to the following picture:

The picture shows a plate that blocks off the bottom half of the mounting location on the engine. If you use an electic fuel pump, then this mounting location needs to be blocked off with a plate.

Many EFI engines in the early 90's weren't drilled for the fuel pump push rod or oil drain-back hole, so no block-off plate is needed.
