Summit techs not helping at all. . .

I have stock L98 heads with a stock chrome cb valve cover. I want to install good roller rockers. I'm getting mixed answers. Can someone just give me a prt # of the ones they are using. I dont want to have to change the rocker studs or anything.

thanks!

Thank you very much. Any gains from going to an aftermarket rr?

A little. Better valve control, especially when lift and RPMs increase.

Better fuel economy as well. i'm running Comp Cams "Pro magnum" roller rockers. Stay away from "roller tip" as their gains and performans upgrades are marginal. Some web sites say up to 5hp gain from better valve train movement.

The Comp Pro Magnums are what I linked.

The Comp Magnums are roller tip only. They are much better than stamped non-roller-tip rockers, but the full roller Pro Magnums are that much again better.

FWIW, I've been running stamped roller tip Elgins on the Camaro since 2001. I haven't had any problems with them, although I only spin it to about 6000 (been up to 6300 on several occasions). I put the Pro Magnums in my Summit wish list because I'll be putting Vortec heads on soon, and need self aligning rockers. Might as well upgrade while I'm at it.

Oh, I'm running Magnums on the 396. Not quite as happy with them, mostly, I suspect, because of the big-blockness of it. Wish I would/could have spent the extra bucks for the Pro Magnums (I was poorer back in '97).

Re: Summit techs not helping at all. . .

I'm certain that the Pro Magnum rockers require a longer stud. Otherwise they end up breaking the tops off the studs.

The investment cast roller tipped rockers can be used with stock studs.

RBob.

Well i'm just doing minor mods to my gta over winter (headers, slp eddy intake, cai, airfoil, rr's, synthetic oil, and suspension). haha so I think i'll notice a decent gain from the pro magnums. They should hold me over till I build up a 350 eh
