Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

Has anyone ever used engine restorer or nano energizer. I have some pretty deap vertical scratches in a few cylinder walls and would like to use one of these. I was on the nano energizer's website nanoxr.com but there is no way to buy the product from them and it looks like the company is located in germany because all the reviews are written in a different language.

I wouldn't count on either to do anything useful.

Magic in a bottle? No thanks.

Save your money. Buy a new set of spark plugs, or something.

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

I could be wrong (well, I am WRONG, but, mistaken about this one thing) but I don't think a set of plugs will fix scored cylinder walls. Even if the engine needs plugs ANYWAY, now is not the time. Yet.

There's no such thing as "rebuild in a bottle". Nothing invented yet will fill the missing metal back in.

Save your money. Don't waste any of it on snake oil you'll be needing it for parts. Get the block bored and replace the pistons and rings (otherwise known as a "rebuild"), or find another block, or both.

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

The block had already been bored .040 over and I do not want to .060 over. Maybe lucas oil will work?

Time for a new block then. There's nothing you can put in your oil that can magically add back missing metal.

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

Don't do that. That's just STEWPID.

Costs more than another block from yer local buzzard.

IMO there's nothing wrong with a .060" over 350 in most cases. But if you don't like that, your best choice is to simply replace it. It'll cost less than any other possible option.

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

You could get 4 used bare blocks for the cost of sleeving all the cylinders.

Never use restore I have done it twice on okay running engines and both with in a week or so ended up spining bearings (only tried it the second time because I thought the first was a fluke boy was I wrong)

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

I have several good bare engine blocks. We used to own a machine shop. (closed due to the death of our son). These blocks have been: magnifluxed, thermal cleaned, bored & honed, cam bearings & brass freeze plugs installed. What I have is: 350-40, 305-30, 429-30, 429-30, 460-30, 351-40, 454-30. If anyone is interested, send me an e-mail with an offer.............take 1 or take all...

I had a .060 over block. Developed a crack in a bore after one time around the block.

**** happens. I wouldn't risk it again.

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

Just how deep? pictures would really help, it might just need honed depending on how deep they are, but otherwise, Idk if boring 60 over is safe on a 350 or not, but it would certainly be the easiest and cheapest route, unless honing is enough. Otherwise, I agree with these other guys, just find another block....350s are a dime a dozen.

I wonder what the wright brothers would say to people who dismiss stuff they have not tested?

Did you just compare snake oil to one of the most pivotal moments in human history...three times?

So, how long have you worked for them?

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

What the Wright Bros did involved actually trying something NEW (sort of... not completely "new", but close).

That's quite a bit different from being gullible and going to AutoZone and wasting a chunk of yer hard-earned cash on stuff that's been around for DECADES.

If that sort of thing is your idea of "new" right now, then once you hit your 20s and move out of mom's, you'll see "new" differently.

Re: Engine Restorer vs Nano Energizer

I tried that crap once on an 89' Chevy pickup with 180k miles that smoked. Let's just say it smoked worse and no improvements in compression like they guaranteed, not a big surprise really.
