went to pull car outta storeage, it won't start

friday i went to go pick my car up outta storage. it's about 45 min away in a buddy's garage and i wanted to get it home and start doing stuff to it.

i get in the garage and hook the battery up and make sure i get all the steel wool outta the engine bay and moth ***** and such. turn key on, i hear no sound of fuel pump. that isn't good. turn car over, and it doesn't start. not even a cough. tried to spray some starting fluid in the intake, and that didn't even do anything.

didn't have any spark coming from the wires. i left it for the night because all i had planned to do was start it and drive it home. wasn't expecting to have to do ****.

go back today, clean off the cap and rotor, check fuses, check connections, and check fuel pressure. finally got spark at the wires, but 0 fuel pressure. got the vehicle to start of intake cleaner, but it only ran for a second.

also my SES light doesn't even come on at start up when it's supposed to do a self diagnostic. wtf? always used to.

factors to keep in mind:
battery was on trickle charger all winter
car ran before it was stored
moth ***** covered the garage, and no signs of critters
used stabil in the fuel take and ran it through the lines before shutting it off
tank is 3/4 full
fuses were good

anybody have any ideas? i'm leaning towards fuel pump.

I'd check the fuel pump relay, and it's connector. If that's good, then I'd stick 12v+ directly to the fuel pump wire and see if it runs - if it does, then your back to the relay, if it doesn't, then you have a dead pump.

Not sure on that one. Missed that part of the question.

Have you looked at the ECM, and it's connector of wires? I know you did the mothball thing, but maybe someone chewed into the ECM harness for a snack - that would explain the no start and no SES light.

AFAIK a dead fuel pump will not trigger SES.

I could be wrong, though.

i'm just saying in general the SES light won't illuminate. it's supposed to and also used to when ever i'd turn the key to "on". i also plugged in my ALDL reader to check to see codes, and there was no flash of the SES light at all. key was on.

Re: went to pull car outta storeage, it won't start

yea start with fuses and relay and putting power at the fuel pump relay to see if the pump will run. I wouldnt worry about the SES light right now cause your trying to get it to run and you need 3 things spark, fuel, and compression and your lacking fuel so start with verifying your pump is good.
