Stick with TPI or go for carburator?
Sometimes part of me just doesn't want to deal with the ECM. Has anyone gone from TPI to a carburator? Do you have to run a new fuel line, or is it even possible to run a carb with the stock electric fuel pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I don't know jack about afp regulators, and I don't know if it's even possible to get the psi down that low. Doesn't a carb run at about 8 psi? If it is possible, I was thinking that I would get a vacuum advance distributor. The plus side is that it would be cheaper for an intake, but the downside is that I'd have to deal with an effin carb. Any thoughts?

Re: Stick with TPI or go for carburator?
Forgot to add that I'm amidst building a motor, so I have options. It's not like the motor is in the car and I'm gonna be screwing around with it. It's gonna be all set up, whichever route I decide to go, before it goes in the car. I've already got a Comp 306 cam, and a set of ProComp heads (2.02/1.60 190cc intake runners) should be here by Monday.

You'll be better off in the long run staying TPI, but that may not be the best for performance. That cam is way too big for a TPI car. Consider a stealth ram.

I vote carbureted. I converted my car over. Easy to make awesome power on the cheap, and easy to find parts.

Commonly done on here with a Mallory #4309 AFPR or similar unless you want to drop the tank to install a carb pump
