engine turns over but wont start
hello i just got a 1992 firebird v6 when i bought it it started right up after sitting for 2 years and even cranked a few times in the yard but yesterday i was diagnosing the horn not working and replaced some fuses (with proper amperage ones but smaller sizes) now when i turn the keey the chime goes of and stutters depending how much i move the key in the cylinder and when i turn it over it turns over some times maybe once or twice then just whirs as if the starter isn't catching and the security light comes on the key is original but the previous own says its ageing and the key is doing this i have no idea what to do i really love the car its my first one one got it for graduation i dont want to let it go she only has a 158000 miles on her and she sat for 2 years there are a lot of hoses that hang under the hood i have no idea but it caught and ran before i dont know any one thank you

That hurt my head, sounds like bad starter, get the correct fuses too please size and amp. Now the starter, youll need a partner in crime, hit the starter with a hammer (not superman hard), try starting car. If that fails hold key to start and tap starter again while it spins, if car starts then starter is bad.

just got a 1992 firebird v6
when i bought it it started right up after sitting for 2 years
now when i turn the key the chime goes of and stutters depending how much i move the key in the cylinder
when i turn it over it turns over some times maybe once or twice then just whirs as if the starter isn't catching
the security light comes on
the key is original but the previous own says its ageing and the key is doing this
i have no idea what to do
i really love the car
its my first one one got it for graduation
i dont want to let it go
she only has a 158000 miles on her and she sat for 2 years
there are a lot of hoses that hang under the hood
i have no idea but it caught and ran before

but if it is cranking over then unlikely to be a VATS problem because VATS takes out the starter and the fuel.
1st thing to check is if the fuel pump is running , do you have fuel pressure at the engine ?
Squirt some gas in the engine and see if it runs.
If it does then you have a fuel problem.
If it doesn't you have a spark problem

You say the air bag cover was open?!!?
What happened with it?
I don't think it's a good idea to mess with that stuff with the battery hooked up!
When ever you do electrical please disconnect it. Then wait a about 3 minutes before you mess with electrical to be sure the air bag doesn't " think " it needs to activate.
Not only would you need to change undies but it would hurt if it hit you or someone that's lending a helpful hand!

Not too complex , just TOO HARD TO READ.
Hit the ENTER button occasionally when writing so it is not one long sentence.
Do a for horn fix articles like this
