Removing Oil Panel without removing EVERYTHING?!

Hey guys,

I need to replace my rear main seal and oil pan. I have a t56 to clearance is super tight. I also have a UMI K member. I raised the engine I high as it can go from the tranny and I cant slip the pan out... I another 1 inch at least. Any ideas how I can get this mother fu**** out without tearing the tranny/clutch/flywheel out?!?!?

Thanks!

Rotate the crank, see if you can get the counterweights and journals at the right position to get some extra clearance, usually the pan will come out.

When I did mine a month ago, after removing the motor mount through bolts and removing the distributor cap, what tom3 suggested above is when it finally came out.

How high did you have to lift the engine? Also, what tranny do you have?

I have a 700R4 and IIRC the motor mount bolt hole were 4-5 inches apart. I also disconnected the transmission mount bolt, don't know if it had any effect.

Yeah my motor mount bolt hole is about only 2-3 inches above the mount. The Tranny is bottoming out on the underbody.

Re: Removing Oil Panel without removing EVERYTHING?!

I may have pushed the tolerances a bit. I really needed to replace my oil pan seal and had limited time to do it.
