Not sure what these do
would like to know what they do when i connect them it causes the engine to stall and stutter and it spit out white smoke from the intake.
Re: Not sure what these do
the first one is the connector that when disconnected puts the distributor into "base timing mode" . I don't know what the second one is because my car doesn't have that connector (something else different between the 6 and the 8 cyl cars) .

Re: Not sure what these do
With the first on disconnected, you need to reset your base timing. Then, for the engine to run right, you need to hook it back up.... If that causes the engine to run bad, then you have a problem somewhere.
What is the second one for? Can you tell where it goes?

the second one looks like it's got something to do with the HVAC system since it goes thru the firewall above the heater box.
high speed wiring for the fan, perhaps?

Re: Not sure what these do
The first one is called the (EST) wire/connection.= Electronic Spark Timing.
This is how its used to set your base timing to the stock configuration.
This needs to be done.
(Start car and idle until the car is at operating temp. Disconnect the EST wire, adjust timing, reconnect EST wire. Shut off car .)
Just leave yours unhooked in the beginning and set the timing then hook it up as described.
If your still having problems than at least you know the timing is set correctly.
There is another procedure that is also important called "setting minimum idle speed"
The timing has to be set to the stock setting before you can do it.

Re: Not sure what these do
If the engine light comes on after setting the timing/messing with the EST wire just unhook the battery for a few minutes.
Also , take it easy on the car for the first 20 miles or so. Drive normally , don't "hot rod" it. That will give the ECM time to relearn the new settings.
