TFS vs AFR heads?

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse... As much as I'd like to buy some shiny new 1040's, I got way too many irons in the fire this year. Any hotroding i do will kinda be on a budget. Found a set of used 190 TFS heads for possibly less than a grand. Will they suffice to get my L98 IROC into the mid 12's on the motor? Not worried about the possible difference of a tenth or 2 compared to a set of AFR's, so I'm thinking i should grab them. Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks

With right intake and cam, you can get 12's easily... chassis setup is more important and getting vehicle weight down.

Sure they arent 195's? Or are they the old twisted wedge

Yea, they're advertised as the older twisted wedge.

Re: TFS vs AFR heads?

My concern with them is valvetrain geometry. I havent seen them but read trickflow altered the valve angles and it lead to geometry issues so you gotta setup your rockers carefully, but that goes with anything

Re: TFS vs AFR heads?

Think TFS needed a certain rocker? I used old comp mag rockers, never had an issue. Still have the heads but not on a motor.

Re: TFS vs AFR heads?

Huh, now that you guys mention it, I seem to recall something about the rocker arm thing. I'll shoot the guy selling them a message and find out. Glad I asked.

Re: TFS vs AFR heads?

When I researched, I ended up w AFR. V TFS twisted wedge. But that was 25 years ago... maybe something changed?
