Did I Cause Damage?

1984 Trans A/M built for Canadian Market as "Export Only". No ecm that I can find.
The carb is off this car for rebuild. While replacing the outer window sweep, I inadvertantly left the key on while testing the power windows up & down with new the sweep, and drained the battery. Would this cause any damage to the HEI Distributor internals - coil, pickup?
I know with the old points setup & external coil, that the coil and coil could fry.

No , you didn't fry anything HEI wise, recharge your battery and you'll be good

the ECM should be on the passenger side under the dash foot cover. You should be able to see a bunch of wires going out to the fender.

he went through this earlier. I learned in the process that exports didn't have ccc qjets. He has a purely mechanical qjet and a vacuum advance dist.

I miss the days when I could see an F-Body roll off of the Assembly-Line with a non-CCC Quadra-Jet... and a Distributor that is not missing its advance Weights,Springs, and Vacuum-Diaphragm.
Sadly (as you just pointed out) the last of them were exported to other countries, where the Government is far less retarded.

Re: Did I Cause Damage?

Carb came back from the rebuilder. With the battery full recharged, & a little gas dumped in the carb bowel via the vent tube, the car started up. Thus, no damage to the distrib.
