Tech / General EngineIs your car making a strange sound or won't start? Thinking of adding power with a new combination? Need other technical information or engine specific advice? Don't see another board for your problem? Post it here!
Is the zz4 a good choice? What else would need to be done for the zz4 assuming i reuse the existing heads. I do plan to do heads and exhaust after the car is sorted out. I’m just looking to get it back on the road for this season.
a little more performance without sacrificing drivability. A/c .. powertour…long roadtrips…1000-3000 mile road trips but a fun car around town. Possibly a tkx in the future over the stock 700r4.
I have a ZZ4 cam and think I'd rather go with that tpis super profile l98 cam.
We put it in a friends 91 350 tpi and its really nice.
the ad may show a LS cam but it's description is mostly right. Give tpis a call or shoot an email to get the correct cam. (Jim is super busy so give him a bit)
The version of the Super L98 cam shown in your pic is for a 1955 to 1986 SBC. It is a flat nose retrofit roller cam meant to be used in older pre 86 blocks that don't have provisions for a factory roller cam.
The version of the Super L98 cam you need for you 1991 L98 is the step nose cam for factory roller cam block made from 1987+.
"This is a billet cam with a step nose for a retainer on an 87-94 SBC or LT1, and a cast iron distributor gear and is ground on a 112deg. lobe separation."
