A/C removal

I'm removing all my A/C "stuff" from my v6 Camaro to paint the engine bay. I want to know how to remove the big box that's on the firewall, on the passanger side with the blower motor on it. I have the top cover off. I don't where or how to get to the bolts for the bottom portion. It seems that I would get to it from inside but I don't see them anywhere.

There are 2 bolts holding the botton. They are located inseide the car on passanger side. Take you fllor mat off and pull the carpet out a bit. Get a flashlight and you should be able to see them.

Good luck.

I found them. There were 3 bolts on mine. I was looking for them there but I didn't think to pull on the insulation.

OK, stupid question.....what do you do when you can not get that last bolt off, by the distributor? It is a washer with a bolt on it. I think mine might be stripped! It keeps on turning and nothing happens. Any suggestions? Back from the dead huh!?!? thanks

Wow, this is an old post. I'm not really sure which bolt your refering to as i haven't messed with the heater box in over a year and a half but you could alwasy drill the bolt out.

Yeah this is an old post! lol I am talking about the bolt on the far right hand side, closest to the distributor. It is a bolt on a washer, which spins on a type of screw, only mine does not screw all the way off! Also, i tried prying it off but the fiberglass started to crack, and i wanted to sell this stuff so i really don't want to break it. I think it is stripped. Any other ideas? thanks

To remove most stripped bolts, I try to turn the stripped fastener (the screw) and pry the object (the heater box) away from the head of the screw. It most always works, as you get a surface for the screw threads to grab on to.

That last one is either a stud or a bolt that's bolted from the inside. Check inside. You may need two people to get the nut off. No pun intended.
