84z vs. 95rs
which do you guys think would win. my 84z28 or a 95 rs. the rs is a 6 cylinder and a five speed. the kid claims to have an intake and exhaust. i think i would probably be the better shifter. thanks
i think your about to get embarrased. dont race him. my friend has a 88 iroc 305 w/ a carb which is basically stock like yours and he got pulled on hard by a 95 v6 5 speed. all the camaro had was a crappy sounding 80 series flowmaster muffler. those things have around 200 hp which im pretty sure your not even close too.
Not sure if your L69 is rated the same as the Monte SS's L69 which it should be the same or close. Based on this and the modds you have listed, you need to upgrade exhaust and intake to go after this RS. Those cars make the same if not more power than yours does. There will be alot of driver skill involved as it currently stands. You should have more low end torque than the V6, but he may have more HP.

i thought they had 160, oh well i still think the rs will take him. my friend thought he was gonna whoop up on this "*****" v6 only to get embarrased by him. if i was you i wouldnt risk it, but its your manhood so do what you want.

my car is rated at 190 horses. and yes it does have 373s.i told the kid that i am going to do a full exhaust system ( you know headers, highflow cat, catback) this winter. he told me that when i do the exhaust he will race me. i do not really mind losing to this kid that much because hes not a dick and he won't be gay about it. thanks for all the advise though. i think i will wait to race him.

Re: 84z vs. 95rs
The 95's still used the 3.4, which means that he only has 160 hp stock. With cold air and an exhaust 170-175 hp would be my guess. I think you'll smoke him.
You should be able to beat him. My friend used to have a 95 5speed V-6, and it was not very fast. When my 305 was running, I know I couldve taken it. And that was with an LG4 with minor mods. With and L-69, you should be able to take him. You wouldnt beat a 3.8, but the 3.4 is not very quick.

hold the phone here
the RS came out in 96 not 95
if its a 95 its a 3.4 5 speed......you should win
if its a 96 its a 3.8 5 speed......i wouldnt put money on it
alot of people refer to base model 4th gen camaro's as RS's
but they are not
the RS came with GFX and only the 3.8 with either the auto or a 5 speed in 1996 and 1997 only
i should know all this only because my dad has a black 97 5 speed RS in the garage

also just for the record the 3.8 was optional in 1995
the 3.4 was standard and came with either auto or 5 speed
in 95 the 3.8 only came with auto

Heavy Chevy should win. My stock '84 with K&N air filter ran 15.281 @ 89mph. My friends 3.8v6 auto ran 15.8/15.9. If you're a good driver you should win every time. It takes a lot of mods to get the v6's crankin'. With the V8's superior torque you should take him off the line and never look back.

i never had a problem with ANY v6 camaro/firebird in my 87 lg4 z28
i was lightly modded , but even with a 2.73 open rear and stock exhaust manifolds , not to mention lg4 exh. manifolds are pretty much the most restrictive manifolds put on a 305 Last edited by mss; Apr 29, 2002 at 12:29 AM.
