crazy 305 Iroc!
Okay a guy came out tonight who has an 89 IROC he just bought... it has a 305 TPI, I've looked this car over iwth a fine-toothed comb. It has cheap oldschool Edelbrock headers, y-pipe, full 3" exhaust, K&N ram-air type intake, rebuilt 50 000 km's ago, MSD plug wires, 3.42 rear-end and the heads were "shaved" apparently (this cannot be backed-up obviously)
I have a 350 TPI fully rebuilt 15 000 km's ago with Hooker exhaust, Transgo shift-kit and good tires (Z Rated brand new). I get a better launch and I still lost!
I lost by about one-two car lengths. He then raced my friend in a bone stock 95 Z28 LT1 6 speed and they pulled even.
Is this normal? I dunno, i'm mainly posting out of confusion/amazement.
I need headers and I am building a cold air intake next week then I'll be out again

You said the motor was rebuilt...maybe he threw in a mild cam to go with his "shaved" heads (or whatever else was done to the heads). And maybe he ported his intake while he was at it.
Was his car an auto or manual? The manual 305s will give stock 350s a good run.
Or he can be lying about it being a 305 and it really has a mild 350 (you did verify the 8th digit in the VIN was 'F' correct?)

Hey Garret, do you have any pics of your car? I thought they didn't make polo green z28s? Did you paint the car that way? Nice choice on the color!

Sounds like this one dudes 305 IROC around here. Its that rare orange color, 305 TPI, G92, A4, minor mods, and he ran a 14 flat.
the dude just bought this IROC recently so he doesn't know what's really done to it, when I looked at it motor was dirty, had some rusted old headers, exhaust, with K&N fitlers that was about it. It barks second and third so it's definitely making some sweet power.
Once I get my dual 4" CAI (custom, hehe) and headers on then I think I could take him but still I was very impressed.
My car was painted polo green metallic two owners ago (I'm fourth owner)... the car was originally white. I get a lot of comments on teh color, it looks black at night. To be honest? I'm not HUGE on the color... I like it, it's definitely original, but I am a sucker for black or even Quasar blue or a DEEP red....
